YeeeeHaww! Guess who’s back on

YeeeeHaww! Guess who’s back on line. Thats right foo’s, its Matt! He’s back and surfing faster than ever. All those emails will be answered soon, and I’ll be on AIM a whole lot more. You know, after suffering through a dial-up all summer, this feels like a miny computer orgasm. It’s great. All that shit that I’ve been wanting to download all summer, now comes to me at 300k/sec. Yippee!

*cough*, sorry, got a little carried away. Lets see, today I’m going to sit on my ass and do absolutely nothing. And I’m so completely content to do so. You know, it’s a weird feeling waking up in your own house and realizing you have nothing to do. I have no work, no school, and a house I can call my own. It took every ounce of strength and resolve merely to get out of bed. Well, that and it’s 95 freakin’ degrees and my bed was getting a little to hot. Whatever. Ok, sorry to keep it short, I’m gonna run and enjoy the bliss of cable modems. Teehee.

Hey Hey Hey, Well, I

Hey Hey Hey, Well, I made it. I’m in one piece. My computer is still in it’s box at the moment, basically because I haven’t purchased a computer table for it yet. But, my roommate was nice enough to let me use his for the moment.

As for the trip down… well, it sucked. The first day we caught nothing but traffic. Theres a section of i95 that I like to call “the corridor from hell”. Basically is stretches from the New Jersey Turnpike, down past Washington DC and Richmond VA. You have to pass through NJ, over a brige with a $3 toll onto Delaware, over a second bridge (also a toll) to Mayland, through a turnpike tunnel (again a toll), through downtown Baltlimore, into Penn and through Philly, into Virginia, through Richmond and past DC. It sucks. I was in bumper to bumper traffic all the way. Its never been that bad. We got to our “half way point” in VA about two hours later than we should have. After that it was a breeze. The second day of driving went quickly and I was in Savannah by 3pm on Saturday.

After moving everything in from the car and taking a quick shower my mom and myself headed off to see about getting a bed. We found a factory outlet and was able to get a $800 Serta Pillowtop Full for $190. I slide the delivery guy a twenty and asked if he could have it there this afternoon. He was there in 30 minutes. After setting up the bed, taking a quick shower and getting a bite to eat, Pete, my mother and myself headed off to Walmart for some of the essentials. I needed a cover for the bed, plus a set of sheets, shower curtain, OJ, bread, that sort of stuff.

After partially setting up my room I spread out an older set of sheets on top of the bed since I didn’t have time to wash the new ones, put my head down and fell asleep in minutes. Today we were planning on buying that afor mentioned computer table (ie: a $30 card table) from Office Max and getting a grocery order done. I need just about some of everything. I hope Pete is home before we leave for groceries because I’d love to go to Sam’s Club and get some seriously cheap stuff. After that, I’ve got to set up my computer and run cable to the upstairs so that I can be online. Right now Pete has his computer in the living room because there wasn’t enough (or any) cord to reach the upstairs. A quick trip to Radio Shack or BestBuy will solve that. I’ll run cable (coax) up the stairs and have the hub and the modem at the top of the stairs. From there I’ll split off three network cables into each of our rooms. I figure this way it’s easier, I only have to run one cable instead of three. Ok, I’m going to go make breakfast now. It feels so weird to be able to do things like make breakfast in MY toaster, take OJ out of MY fridge, it’s great, I’m lovin’ this.

I’ll be back online probably late tonight or tomorrow, I’m not sure yet, but I’ll see ya then.

Well, this would be the

Well, this would be the last post before I pack up the computer for the trip tomorrow. I hope everyone has enjoyed their summer, I’ve certainly enjoyed parts of mine, mostly the ones I got to spend with my friends.

Chris, have fun with your last year at VT. I hope that job offer comes through, though it would be cool to have you around NH permanetly, keep chasing those girls, you’ll catch one soon. Thanks for all the great concerts and shows at Avalon, they really made my summer.

Chip, it’s been fun as always, have fun at Valvcon, say hi to Dave & Dave for me, have fun with Andrea, so long and thanks for all the fish.

Nick, thanks for spending what little Milford time you had hangin’ out with me, I know Alaska was fun and I’m sure Europe will be to, try not to get lost in that big giant world out there, but I do envy you for getting to see it.

Dave, Jeff, Derrick, Jason and Heather, I only got to hang out with most of you once or twice but it was fun non-the-less, Dave have fun in school, Derrick, try to to get stuck at Walmart forever, Jeff, have fun at work and try not to crash the new car, Heather, sorry I couldn’t fix that email problem, have fun in school and remember its all in your head, Jason, don’t bug Chip to much and pick a damn car and stick with it. 🙂

Ok, here we go… another jont down the coast and through i95 traffic. Let the fun begin. See you all on Saturday, well, virtually at least. Later.

Well, Chris is gone, Nick

Well, Chris is gone, Nick is gone, and I’m working then I’ll be gone. Today I got the oil changed in the Olds’ and will probably pack some more when I get home. It’s weird, this summer has “flown by slowly”, meaning that each individual day has crawled and been a pain in the ass, but the summer as a whole has been a giant blur. I can bearly remember the Ani concert in Cental Park that I went to in June, or the first month of work, or the movies I saw at the begining of the summer. Odd. Oh well, it’s almost over and I can get back to Savannah and my wonderful girlfriend. Yah! I can also get back to a decent internet connection and finally be able to check my email in under a hour, or play a little CS.

OMG!!! Matt made his very

OMG!!! Matt made his very first application skin! Oh no… could this mean yet more time in front of the PC, cranking out cool custom skins for all his favorite programs? Probably not. I actually just wanted to give it a try. The program I mentioned a little while ago, SkinMem, is insanely easy to skin for. Actually, let me back up for those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about when I say “skin”. A “skin” is just a replacement interface for a computer program, much like how you can change the face plate of a cell phone, you can change the look of some applications. The most widely known “skinnable” program is of course Winamp. With Winamp, you can download custom skins to change the look of your MP3 player. But, for me, having never tried to before, skinning for Winamp is a little bit tougher than one might think. So, for a first attempt I turned to SkinMem, a program I’ve been using for a couple weeks to keep track of how much system memory my computer is using up as I do things. The skin system for SkinMem is so easy that all you have to do is make a single image file and an INI file to go with it that defines things like transparancy and font location. So, basically, you can make this little sucker look like whatever you want. If you’re interested, you can get the program here and I’ll make a new section of the web page for skins so you can d/l’em if you feel like it. Maybe I’ll wait till I have a few more first. We’ll see.

Ok, tomorrow is my second to last day at work. Yah. I plan on being completely useless and trying not to do much of anything. At any rate, I’ve got to work from 1 till 10. Then I get to come home, go to bed, get up and open the store on Thursday. What fun. Ok, g’night.
