Ok, I mentioned an article about “how to tell if your son is a hacker” in the past post and if you’ve read it, you’re probably dying from laughter just like me. I figured it was funny enough to warent posting some of the more stupid bits:
“Your son will probably try to install some hacker software. He may attempt to conceal the presence of the software in some way, but you can usually find any new programs by reading through the programs listed under “Install/Remove Programs” in your control panel. Popular hacker software includes “Comet Cursor”, “Bonzi Buddy” and “Flash”. “
hehe… he thinks Flash is evil.
“Computer hackers are often limited by conventional computer hardware. They may request “faster” video cards, and larger hard drives, or even more memory.”
oh sweet god… my son wants a new video card! he must be the devil!!!
“AMD is a third-world based company who make inferior, “knock-off” copies of American processor chips. They use child labor extensively in their third world sweatshops, and they deliberately disable the security features that American processor makers, such as Intel, use to prevent hacking.”
should be tell him that AMD is in San Jose, CA?
“There are, unfortunately, many hacking manuals available in bookshops today. A few titles to be on the lookout for are: …. “Neuromancer” by William Gibson; “Programming with Perl” by Timothy O’Reilly; “
ahahahahah! *cough*
“Quake is an online virtual reality used by hackers. It is a popular meeting place and training ground, where they discuss hacking and train in the use of various firearms.”
well shit… if I had know thats what I was doing, I would have done it more often… idiots.
“BSD, Lunix, Debian and Mandrake are all versions of an illegal hacker operation system, invented by a Soviet computer hacker named Linyos Torovoltos, before the Russians lost the Cold War.”
umm.. ok.
and my absolute favorite one… listen to this…
“However, you neglected to mention one of the most obvious signs that your son/daughter is spiraling towards self destuction: Electronic “Techno Music”. … one important sign which you seem to have missed is if the child in question begins listening to “electronic” music. music made with computers is very popular among the hacker subculture, for obvious reasons. any music that is not created with real, natural instruments – such as the tuba or the piano – is particularly insidious, because it causes the listener to enter into a dangerous fantasy world, leaving their mind open to destructive influences. “
I’m going to go laugh some more now… hehehehe. stupid peoples.

So, to get on with life. Let’s get back to what I’m good at. Talking mindlessly about DJs and Counterstrike, as Nagle likes to put it. And so I shall.
Check this out. The Top 10 Ways To Tell If Your Child is a Hacker. I found that over at usr/bin/grl and thought it was funny shit. Worth a read.
Also, Nagle pointed out a nifty page on screenwriting for those who are down with that. Check out About.com’s Screenwriting page.
Cool stuff for those hard to shop for college kids… check out Urban Outfitters. You know you want to.
Those into game design and discussion of such would probably want to check out the Game Development Search Engine if they haven’t already. I was particulary interested in the 3D game engine section since I was looking for a free engine to play around with.
And because a post wouldn’t be complete without some Counter-Strike stuff, CSNation has given themselves a face lift, check it out for you’re always continuing CS news.
And last but not least… don’t mess with the little yellow rodent… “cause Pikachu just knocked you the fuck out!”
later.

You know, there’s not much I’ll ever apologize for. I don’t know whether it’s because I’m too proud or too stupid. I don’t apologize for anything I write, as a rule mind you. But I will apologize when I’ve hurt a friend. I think this is silly and has gone on long enough. Things were said that were hurtful to me, things I said back were hurtful to others. That’s the short of it. I’m not going to extend this into a useless barrage of “who did what” and I’m not going to deal with it further. If I wanted to “deal with it” or “cut the bullshit” further, I’d hire a shrink. They get paid for this crap. I don’t have the time nor the ambition to straiten out personal shortcomings or the shortcomings of others if there are any. There was misunderstanding all around and it stands as such. I’m sorry for those misunderstandings. Now I’m dropping the subject and hope others will as well.
PS: There is no harm in calling me “Matty” despite what has been previously discussed, that wasn’t the point of all this. The point was to merely explain the reasons behind the sensitivity of that word. You are all my friends, and I love you as such. The term is an affectionate and friendly one and I have no problem with it being used in that manner. You must simply understand that it does carry another meaning, one you did not know about. Now you know. And knowing is half the battle.
