“People! I think it’s time

“People! I think it’s time to revive a long standing tradition we seem to have forgotten. Something we use to do every Saturday night as a matter of principle…”

I’m of course talking about a CODE FEST! Yup, that’s right. It’s time for a good, ol’fashion, EXPI old skool style, code fest! What am I talking about? I’m talking about drinking WAY to much caffine, staying up until 4, slaving over hot HTML code until the screen is blurry and you’re writing code simply out of instinct. Why now? Because I want to enjoy my weekend and if I have this project looming over my head I won’t be able to do that. This is a major mid-term project and I’d like to pull it off with such inprecidented style that it makes heads spin. I don’t know whether it will be tonight, tomorrow night, or one night this weekend. But I promise you this: There’s will be a new design here by Monday morning. AND, it will rock.

That is all.

I found a little blurb

I found a little blurb on speedguide.net. Maybe this is why we can’t get over 2k/sec when all three of us are online.

@Home to Comcast transitions are happening:

… and overall the people are not very happy. It seems the new caps, both up and down have people getting upset- including the technicians themselves.

Personally, my transition occurs this Saturday. Up until now, I have been uncapped- it will be a rough transition to move to their new 1.5mbps down standard… especially since I will be paying the same amount for the service.

Damn strait. I shouldn’t pay $90 a month for service that sucks. ($35 for tv, $40 for modem and the $5 for each IP). What the fuck?!?! Somehow I’m guess that 1.5mbps is total and not per IP. If it was then I would at least me able to get a web page in more than a minute. This is rediculous. Just because there’s no alternative doesn’t mean that they can bitch-fuck consumers anyway they please.

What cock-gobblers! SCAD can stuck

What cock-gobblers! SCAD can stuck my nuts. I called the Acedemic Advising office three days ago, and today they finally got back to me. They told me the earliest I could see my advisor was next Monday. Now, bear in mind that I register for classes on Friday. I got a nice little letter in the mail saying I wouldn’t be able to register if I didn’t see these people first… well, don’t you think it would be a good idea for my advisor to perhaps schedule people before they need to register. I was told he’s “booked solid” and that I should have called earlier. Well, I did. But since these asshole don’t work weekends, I got my called returned today. FUCK!

*a fictional conversation with an advisor*

Matt: “Good afternoon sir, I’m told you needed to speak to me before I could register”.
Adv: “Yes, we like to talk to everyone with 105 credit hours so we can make sure they’re on track to graduate.”
Matt: “I understand, but I already know the classes I needed to take.”
Adv: “Oh, really?”
Matt: “Yes, and since I had to come see you first, I didn’t get into them.”
Adv: “Well, you should have made an appointment earlier.”
Matt: “I shouldn’t have needed an appointment in the first place.”
Adv: “Pardon?”
Matt: “See if you can wrap your brain around this one… I, a junior, only need 12 classes to graduate. Those 12 classes are hard to get into because they’re what everyone needs to graduate. Because you wanted to make sure I could graduate, you’ve made me miss my opportunity to get into those classes. Now, because you’re trying to help me, you’ve completely screwed me over and now I’ll graduate late. I shouldn’t have needed to come and see you, I know what classes I needed, I was all set with my schedule because someone helped me out last quarter. But apparently that wasn’t good enough for you people and I had to come talk to you again. Now, because you wanted to make sure I graduated on time, I’ll graduate late. You caused the exact problem you were trying to prevent. I bet that makes you feel all warm and tingly inside, doesn’t it? Now, release the god-damn hold on my account so I can go home and try to repair some of the damage you assholes did.”

Arg. I hate SCAD. Wait, I take that back. I hate anything related to SCAD administration. The classes are good, the teachers are good. There’s not enough parking, but that’s not really their fault. Whatever.

DAMN THE MAN

Well, last night I fell

Well, last night I fell into the Photoshop pit from hell. I’ve been trying to think up really nifty new things for my new layout, but haven’t been able to. So, last night I tried to find interesting tutorials on how to make a cool interface or maybe just some accent pieces. Well, I found some. Infact, I found too many. Truth be told, I knew where to find most of them, but I had never really tried to use them before. So, last night I did. After about 3 hours of trying to follow EyeBall Designs tutorials on how to make an interface, the only thing I had accomplished looked like a 3rd grader had done it. I was trying to do this but it never quite made it. Maybe I’ll shoot for something a little less intrusive. We’ll see. I still have a week to do it, but I wanted to have it done before the weekend. And we all know how long it take Matt to debug a site (about a year). Oh well. I’ll think up something.

In studio however, things were going much much better. I keep getting compliments on some of my shots, which is making me happy because I finally feel like I know what I’m doing. Anyway, I figured I’d show you guys the last couple of shots I took. I think you’ve already seen one of these, but you get to see it again anyway. I scanned’em at only 72dpi, so forgive me. It was to save both you and I time. So, they’re very small, but if you’d like to see’em bigger, just let me know.

After studio yesterday I headed over to Lauren’s place and she made tacos. Yum! I hadn’t had tacos in a while. After that I helped find ideas for a design for a lamp she needs to make. It should be really cool when it’s done. After that I came back here and fell into to Photoshop nightmare. Oh well. I guess I should get cleaned up, it’s almost time to study for a quiz and drive downtown for class. Later.

Shit! Jason and I decided

Shit! Jason and I decided to do a good thing today and clean the kitchen. This involved doing a large amount of dishes. So, we decided to let the dishwasher do them for us. We’ve always liked the dishwasher, but weren’t using it in order to keep other people happy. So, we loaded up the dishwasher, put in soap, and turned it on. A few minutes later, soapy water started to pour from the inside of the machine and spill onto our floor. We called the emergency maintenance people and they’re on their way over. This, despite the amount of water, may be a good thing. Our dishwasher is “old” and that’s putting it nicely. Hopefully we can get a new one out of this. Also, the water all over the floor is a perfect excuse to mop it, which hasn’t been done in quite a long time. So, hopefully, we’ll get a new dishwasher and a clean floor out of 10 minutes of cleaning. Nifty.
