Rather uneventful day. Stuff happened.

Rather uneventful day. Stuff happened. Classes and such. Blah.

On the upside, I did start looking for computer parts. I’m still completely undecided on anything. I know I’d like to get at least an Athlon XP 1800+, 512Mb of RAM and a new case. Other than that I’m completely open to suggestions…

(this is about the time that you should be flooding the comment pannel with suggestions. *wink*)

Hopefully I’ll do something interesting tomorrow. Sorry for being borring. Carry on.

There’s a few in there without dates or with the wrong venue. I know this. I just didn’t feel like checking each on against the database. Oh well. So, Chris… whatcha got bro???

I’ve got the perfect project

I’ve got the perfect project for my programming buds. Well, maybe it’s not perfect, but it’s a good idea. It’s a simple database app that compares input to an existing database. The key here is that it generates that database based off existing files. For example, let’s say that I have 50 mp3s and I’m about to download number 51, but I’m trying to remember if I’ve downloaded it already. Why not type the name of the mp3, or maybe even a keyword or two, into this nifty program and it would look and see if I already had it. I know that sounds like a simple search tool, but what if the mp3s were no longer there. What if I already burnt them to a cd. I would need a program that could generate a “list” and save that list for comparison later. Maybe something like that already exsists, but I can’t find one, and I’m sick of spending three hours downloading an Essential Mix only to find out I have it on a CD that I burnt a year ago. So, Chris, Chip, any ideas?

Holy Sweet Zombie Jebus! I

Holy Sweet Zombie Jebus! I just finished downloading the Sasha and Diggers set from Miami last week… and I’m floored. I don’t think I’m capable of expressing how good this set it. It’s mind-numbing, simply massive. I’ve seen S&D live and this is possibly a better mix track wise. I’m sure if I had been amongst the club-goers I would still be recovering. Damn. Check your file sharing programs for it. NOW! If worst comes to worst, grab it at http://d2k.dedserver.org/index2.php. I’m going to go be euphoric now. Woot!

Woot. Randomness to talk about

Woot. Randomness to talk about tonight. First of all, a little file sharing goodness for everyone. If you’re using WinMX (and I highly suggest you do) check out this nifty little program. It’s called NapiMX. It adds tons of OpenNap and P2P servers to your WinMX server list. By default there’s only one server listed in the WinMX server list, so this is a great little find. I went from one server with about 100,000 users to 50-60 servers with obviously many more users. Also, along the same lines, check out ZeroPaid. It’s a cool little site with links and downloads for hundreds of file-sharing programs.

Also, if you have file sharing programs that use ads or have pop-ups, you might want to check out this. It’s actually a link off of Kazaa Lite’s site(see “Hosts List” in the links along the top), but it’s a good trick that can work for just about anything. It involves editing your Windows “HOST file” and redirecting known ad services to a different IP address, namely yours, hense negating the connection and not downloading any ads.

I also got a great deal of printing done today, which makes me very happy. I also had the pleasure of listing to some brilliant music that I hadn’t listening to in quite a while. I highly recommend finding a copy (possibly even using an afor-mentioned file sharing program) of Carl Cox – Essential Mix from Spaze (ibiza) on August 13th 2000 and Timo Maas – Essential Mix on 5-17-01. Those are directed at my bud Chris. Go get’em. They rawk 🙂
