Well…

Well, the windows install went sorta ok. I’m a bit confused however. My understanding of “formatting a drive” typically involves deleting files and in general FORMATTING THE DRIVE. This did not happen. Windows merely deleted the old version of windows and reinstalled itself. All my programs, files and whatnot are still there, windows just doesn’t see them. For example, Photoshop still exists inside an “Adobe” directory in “Program Files.” The icons are gone, my screen layout is back to default, it doesn’t show up in the Add/Remove programs list and it’s not in the registry. Someone want to explain this one to me? Regardless, I’m going to really blow the drive away tomorrow (today), by hand, just so I can make sure it actually happens this time. When you want something done right, you’ve got to pull the trigger yourself.

Other than that, I’m still up at 2:30am! Why? Not because of Windows, heck no. I wouldn’t loose sleep over that stupid ass-hat OS. Actually, I’m up helping Lauren with a project. Actually I’m watching her work and trying to come up with words of encouragement. She’s working on a big (mid-term sized) plan in AutoCAD. Since I know nothing about AutoCAD, I don’t really offer anything more than moral support. We’re downtown right now, at her building (Eichburg Hall) working in the computer labs. I “persuaded” a workstation to let me on so I could surf the web a bit while she’s working.

I figured I’d come downtown with her since there was no way I’d let her drive home tired at 3+am. The killer is that after we’re done here we still have a model to work on and and specification sheet to work on. No prob though. While she was working this evening I pre-cut pieces for the model and whipped up a template in Word so that all she has to do is put in the info. Piece of cake. Sure it’s an all nighter, but isn’t that what college is all about? What else was I going to be doing at 5am anyways? 🙂

That’s about it. Later kids.

Wish me luck

Well, it was bound to happen. When you have one computer thats senial and one thats obsesive compulsive, odds are you’ll have to reinstall an operating system eventually. The new system, having originally contained a not-so-legal copy of XP Pro, and then a installed-over legit version, is starting to act “odd.” There’s also some basic problems with confusion. The operating system seems to have become confused as to what it likes to on a regular basic. Crashing and not being able to contact Windows Update seems to have taken preference to working correctly. So… a few keystrokes from now, I’ll be blowing a hard drive away. Then inserting a nice bootdisk followed by a Windows CD and from there we cross our fingers. Wish me luck.

Stuffage

Well, my photos turned out well, or at least as well as can be expected. They look pretty cool. I might scan them tomorrow and then I’ll share with you guys. I also whipped up my “self-promotional” piece for buisness practices class. It should be done at the printers on Monday morning. Other than that I’ve just been watching movies on Starz all weekend. I watched The Fast and the Furious this afternoon and Spy Games is almost over at the moment. I think The One is on after that. That is all.

ANNOUNCEMENT

Oops, I almost forgot to mention that I’ll be redesigning the site over the next week or so. The main reason is for my final project in my Buisness Practices class. One of our options is to do a webpage and it wouldn’t be fair to turn in something I already have. Plus I like keeping things fresh and I think it’s time for a redesign/update anyways. I’ll also be dividing the site into “personal” and “buisness” for the assignment, so there’ll be two distinct sides to LI.net. I’ll keep you posted. Later.

Photo shoot

Well, since I didn’t shoot yesterday, I’m shooting today. Actually, Chris will like this, I’m shooting a fairly “pro-techno” sort of ad. I’ve got a pair of New Balance sneaks and I’m going to put a pair of glow-sticks next to them and then add in the text “Saturday night brought to you by New Balance.” I thought it was a cool idea. Anyway, besides that I’m also shooting a perfume ad, a watch ad (maybe) and anything else I happen to think up while I’m there. So, in the end, I’m going to be shooting 6 or 7 rolls of film. It’ll be cool. But, that right there is my entire day. I’ll be downtown at Burgen (the photo building) probably until it gets dark. Oh well, at least I’m being productive.
