At least that’s what a recent study profiled by Wired had to say (story). While it doesn’t exclude file-sharring from blame for the decline of record sales it does point out that the impact of file sharring has “had only a limited effect on sales”. Hardly the 33% decline that the RIAA would have you believe.
See, I told you the music just sucks.
Update: Yahoo is also running the story. This time not in minor quoted form like Wired. Linky.
I’m so glad SOMEONE from the media finally picked this up, even if it was only Wired and Yahoo. 99% of the music released daily JUST PLAIN SUCKS. It is getting harder and harder to find interesting and innovative music. iTunes has helped somewhat for me in that department, for what its worth 🙂
yeah. itunes has been pretty nifty for me too. if only I could figure out a way to remove/reset/update my library. after my harddrive reformat, it ended up changing drive letters for the other drives and now everything is messed up. my music drive, G:, is now E:, which means ALL of my music is “unable to be located” or so says iTunes. I can’t clear the library because if I do it’ll delete my purchased music too. I don’t really know what to do.
Oh, and another way to find cool new bands is musicplasma.com. You put in the name of a band you like and it’ll find similar bands for you. Kinda cool.
