I took a couple minutes and fired up the scanner and did, at least what I’m considering to be, an awesome thing. I scanned every single one of my hits, parallels and inserts that are up for trade. All of them. Then, because I’m a visual sort of guy, instead of making a spreadsheet and just listing them, I made an image catalog. No joke. It’s now the link for “Cards for Trade” in the sidebar. You can also go directly there by clicking on this link.

So, when Sam posted his massive pile of trade bait the other day, it got me thinking. I had made a promise to myself (and the wife) that for both budget and space reasons, I was only going to be collecting Red Sox cards. That sounds like a great idea in theory, but if you’re only collecting one team and you buy packs and boxes you’re obviously going to have quite a few cards you don’t need or want. That’s where you guys come in. I’ve decided to sweeten trade deals with giant piles of base. Here’s how it works. If you’re interesting in a specific card I have, be it a hit, parallel, base or something else, and we make a trade, I’ll throw in all the extra cards I have for that team as a freebie.

So, since I’ve finished off most of my sets for 2011, and all I have left are things that I’ve already bought into group breaks for (in hopes of finishing), the only things left to buy until next year are “hits” off of eBay. I’m not a huge eBay fan, or at least I wasn’t until I started buying card, but I can work a system whenever I find the in’s and out’s. I’m watching lots of $0.99 auctions and only jump on things at the very last second.

Really? Sonofabitch.
Not that I thought he was the best thing since sliced bread, but come on. Bard is good, really good, and he can fill the slot, I just hope he’s ready. Please Red Sox, at least spend the cash you’re apparently not giving Paps and get a really solid ace starting pitcher. Actually, get two.
Oh, and while you’re at it, give Ortiz whatever the hell he wants, just let him retire in a Sox uniform. Letting people like that go at the end of their careers is just insulting. Look at what you did to poor Fisk.
Sigh
This is going to be one hell of a hot stove season.

I’m not really sure if it’s a “we’re terrible at quality control” problem, or if it’s a “this is a rare, one of a kind screw-up” sort of thing, but I’ve got a messed up Chrome Refractor I wanted to share and maybe get a second opinion on.
