Mail Day from the Bay

Another week, another smattering of little yellow bubble mailers… well… except for that jerk that charged me $3 shipping and sent me a card in a PWE with a single stamp on it. Seriously, eBay people, nothing will get you a crappy rating faster than sending things in a PWE. Now, if shipping is free, or $0.50, or something like that, sure, that’s understandable. I’m getting what I paid for. I would gladly pay you an extra dollar for a better envelope if given the option. Just don’t charge me like you’re going to send it first class in a mailer, and then put a $0.43 stamp on it. That’s not cool.

I digress.

Loot from the Dimwit

I like saying the word “dimwit”, even though my friend Sam is anything but. Dimwit. Hehehe. See, it’s just a fun word. What’s even more fun than his pseudonym are his group breaks and card drafts. I was fortunate enough to jump into the later and scored a couple nifty cards.

Normally, the point of a “Trade Bait Draft” is to buy things for other people or at least things you think other people might be interested in. However, Sam’s latest was so full of neat Red Sox stuff, I had a hard time picking up anything else.

Opening Day from Derek

Derek over at Tomahawk Chopping has been exceedingly generous with his recent Opening Day and Heritage purchases, spreading his extra non-Braves love around the blogosphere. I can’t thank him enough for sending me all his Red Sox as of late. I truly appreciate it! I keep trying to score neat Braves hits from eBay to repay him for his kindness. He’ll get something nifty soon enough, muwahahahaha. *cough*

Anyway, to say ‘Thank You’ and to show off what he sent, I fired up the ol’flatbed today…

Fantasy Baseball

Alrighty fellas, it’s getting down to the wire so I’m putting out a public appeal for more players. For the past couple years I’ve been GM for an always entertaining Fantasy Baseball League. It’s mostly comprised of family and friends and, just this year, a couple of my fellow card bloggers. For reasons beyond my control, I’ve had a couple players unfortunately unable to play this year. I can relate, my own life is equally crazy, but I want to keep the league running for those especially dull moments over the summer where there’s nothing to do but watch baseball anyway.

So, here’s my public appeal. I NEED two more players. Actually, I could live with just ONE more player and then create some sort of basement dwelling punching bag team so everyone would at least have a win or two, but two would be optimal.

Here’s the basics of the league:

  • ESPN based
  • Default, head to head scoring with minor tweaks (added bonus for things like perfect games or grand slams)
  • Default ESPN rosters/rankings
  • Rosters lock at first game of the day (instead of weekly)
  • Full season schedule with playoffs
  • No buy-in, fees, dues or cost
  • Fun, low-key people who just enjoy baseball, no pressure

If you’re interested in playing in a fun, easy going Fantasy Baseball league, PLEASE let me know ASAP. Our draft is going to be Sunday afternoon. I need to fill at least 1 roster spot by then or I can’t have the draft. With two additional players it’ll bring our league to 8 teams, but if more people are interested, it can be easily expanded to 10 or 12, so don’t feel like there’s only a single spot. We can always get bigger, but I need a minimum to even bother with the draft.

Anyone interested?

Base Card Bonanza

So, Wes (aka: JayBarkerFan) was looking to sell off some old duplicates and base cards he had since he was planning a move in the near future. For a couple bucks and some postage I figured I couldn’t go wrong. I hadn’t traded with Wes before, but I heard nothing but good things and so we exchanged a couple emails. A week later, boom! Mega box on my doorstep.
