At some point while I was sick I received the loot from Juuust a Bit Outside’s 4th group break. It was in a whole massive pile of stuff waiting for me that my wife had kindly piled up on my desk for when I was feeling better. Kyle busted some Fleer Platinum, Bowman Platinum, SP Authentic and 2012 Heritage. Here’s my loot…
The highlight on that one would be the Iglesias x-fractor in the bottom corner. I already had the Bowman base set, and a regular refractor for the Sox future shortstop, but I was missing the x-fractor version. I also needed the SP Authentic Schilling to complete that set. So, two off the checklist. Very happy about that.
With these and what I pulled out of the blaster I bought (which I’ll post about later tonight), I only need the two short prints and one of the inserts. Why someone like Ortiz is the short print and Andrew Bailey is a base card continues to boggle my mind. Regardless, this is the first Heritage product I’ve purchased and I have to say that I really like the thicker stock and retro colors. The backs are “white” board and not the brown/gray classic cardboard, which gives them almost a Topps Tiffany sort of feel. I can’t say I’m going to go out and hunt down a bunch of Heritage now, but I enjoy this years set, and I think that’s probably a good place to nip that in the bud.
I think Kyle was just being extra generous on this one, because he threw in all sorts of nice stuff along with the group break loot. A nice Triple Threads Jimmie Foxx numbered out of 1350, the Fisk Golden Moments I was missing from 2012 Series 1, a nice ’96 Throwback Topps Chrome, even a couple retro cards. All of those were completely unexpected but a very nice surprise. Thanks Kyle! Awesome break. Looking forward to the Gypsy Queens for Break #6!
