Yesterday I had a huge package waiting for me in the mail box. It was from Ryan over at “ ‘O’ No, Another Orioles Blog“. I had sent him a package of a couple Lineage and Topps Chrome refractors he needed along with a couple things from his needs/wants lists. In return he sent me a really nice Curt Schilling jersey card I had my eye on and a whole giant box of stuff.

Pardon me while I get completely belligerent for a minute, but the Red Sox just signed 32 year old Kelly Shoppach as catcher and I can’t wrap my head around what on earth Ben Cherington is thinking, let alone smoking. Whatever it is, I’d like the number of his dealer.

I got my first trade package in the mail over the weekend from my new friend Johnny over at Cards From the Quarry. Johnny is a Rockies fan and I sent him a couple jersey relics, parallels and just about anything Rockies related I had. In return he was kind enough to send along a whole stack of awesome stuff. He included a bunch of fantastic Goudey, Goodwin Champions and lots of recent Upper Deck, which I’m extremely grateful for. I didn’t have anything from the early 2000’s. Now I’ve got a great start on lots of 2008-2005 stuff. The highlights from the trade were definitely these…

So, before this years Diamond Giveaway ends on New Years, I thought I’d take a look back through what cards I had received and see if any of them are worth the shipping cost. The answer, not many. There are quite a few 80’s cards that are simply junk wax. Out of the whole thing I think there’s only 3 or 4 cards I have any interest in. I’ll post a list of what I have in case anyone is interested in any of them.

I took a couple minutes and fired up the scanner and did, at least what I’m considering to be, an awesome thing. I scanned every single one of my hits, parallels and inserts that are up for trade. All of them. Then, because I’m a visual sort of guy, instead of making a spreadsheet and just listing them, I made an image catalog. No joke. It’s now the link for “Cards for Trade” in the sidebar. You can also go directly there by clicking on this link.

So, when Sam posted his massive pile of trade bait the other day, it got me thinking. I had made a promise to myself (and the wife) that for both budget and space reasons, I was only going to be collecting Red Sox cards. That sounds like a great idea in theory, but if you’re only collecting one team and you buy packs and boxes you’re obviously going to have quite a few cards you don’t need or want. That’s where you guys come in. I’ve decided to sweeten trade deals with giant piles of base. Here’s how it works. If you’re interesting in a specific card I have, be it a hit, parallel, base or something else, and we make a trade, I’ll throw in all the extra cards I have for that team as a freebie.
