Ever gotten a “Nigerian Money” scam email. You know, where someone offers to send you billions if you hide it for them. Well, this site is for you. 419 Eater. Why simply deleted those emails when you can have hours of fun fustrating them to no end? This is quite possibly the best idea I’ve seen in a very long time. Awesome.

I’ve decided to play around with a few WordPress plugins lately. One of these is a Gravatar plugin. A Gravatar is a Globally Recognized Avatar (G.R.Avatar). It’s main purpose is to put in a use icon/avatar as easily as humanly possible. All I have to do is add 1 line of code to my comments page. All YOU have to do is upload a gravatar to their site. It’s simple. You upload an image, it can be anything, but it’ll be 80×80 pixels in the end, so keep it small. The site generates a keyhash based on your email address. Since you use your email address in the comment field of this (and other) web pages and journals, any site operator can use gravatars. When you put in your email address, it automatically looks up your avatar and adds it to the comment page. I don’t have to do any work, YOU don’t have to do anywork (outside of uploading an initial image that is). It’s really a piece of cake. So, if you guys want to, this is completely optional, you can upload a picture and every time you make a comment here it’ll get used. Cool huh?

Just a quick test of w.bloggar. Apparently the new version works with TypePad and WordPress now. We’ll see.

I’m going to give Chris the benefit of the doubt here and not only allow comments but allow anyone to make them. I’ll see how Spam Karma does. As of this weekend, journal.php will no longer be a valid link, so update your bookmarks. I’m going to be poking at this template a bit and seeing what I can come up with. I was unsatisfied with the hack I found to embed login fuctions within the comment pages (hense the lack of it) as well as a few things here and there. The title of this page in 10pt bold Courier is also ticking my off. That’ll be changed shortly.
Chris has also mentioned that having pull down menus for my archives is some sort of technological achievement, so I think they’ll stick around for a while. I kind of like them.
Also, this theme is apparently made of only three graphics. I was amazed when I started to fiddle with it. Good ol’ CSS, surprising me again. Let me run this idea past you guys: same layout, but a white content section with a darker background to the sides and a blue-ish neon glow coming from underneith (where the gray gradiant is now). I dunno, it was an idea. I doubt it will happen.
Ok, so, test her out, comment away. Tomorrow I’m going to move this to /blog/ and create a splash page, main page and a few other stray content pages. After that I’ll tidy up some of the CSS to my liking.
Oh, and if Chris could point me in the direction of a journal posting program (like Zempt or z.bloggar for MT) it would be greatly appreciated. 😛
Matt out.

You may or may not realize this, depending on how you have my site bookmarked, but I’m mid-process of switching to Word Press. Point your browser back to www.docholoday.com and see what I mean. There’s still a few issues to work out. Namely this whole “page vs. post” thing, the fact that I can’t figure out how to make my journal be anything other than index.php (like journal.php for example) and also the fact that each post is simply docholoday.com/?1 or whatever the post # happens to be. That’s a little weird to me. I can’t see to find any formatting options for achives, singles pages and that sort of general setup info. Maybe Chris can point me in the right direction. Oh, and for the moment I’m using a great theme called Minima until I can convert my working design of a webpage into a nice looking css style. It has a few bugs. Anyway, this will be it for a while. I’m kind of liking WP, it just has some “find the feature” issues that I’m going to be chipping away at for the next few days.
Matt out
